Prospective Tenants Information

Looking for accommodation can be a headache, but we make it easy.

To get started, find the property you wish to view using our search page,

Contact us with a date and time and we will be there with the keys. It really is as simple as that.

All of the rented accommodation we advertise has to meet our specific criteria in relation to health and safety, fire and furnishings regulations, and gas and electrical safety.

If you decide to rent a property through Direct Housing, you will be given a copy of the gas and electrical safety certificates when you sign your tenancy agreement.

Additionally there will be a detailed Inventory of fixtures fittings and furnishings and Schedule of condition of the property for you to check through. This acts as a safeguard for both yourself and the landlord.

Once you have made your choice of property, you will need to complete an application form. If you are a student, or have only a short working history, you will need a guarantor. This can be either a parent or guardian, or a friend who knows you well enough to guarantee the rent and condition of the property.  If you are a worker we will ask for references and copies of salary slips, and a clear credit report.

At this point you must pay a deposit to reserve the property.

Rent payments begin the day your tenancy commences. Rent payments are made in advance and are always due of the first day of each month. If you move into the property part way through the month, the rent will be adjusted accordingly.

Tenancies are usually for a minimum period of six months, unless you are a student. Student tenancies are usually for a minimum of nine or twelve months.

Please Note:

– There are NO admin fee charges for tenants.

– If rent is inclusive of bills providing for fair usage, the usage will be specified in your contract.

– Tenants requiring a student visa would need to pay all rent in advance unless a UK based guarantor can be provided.
